Recently I had some problems with ubuntu software RAID 1 with two caviar green 1tb. Reading forums, I learned about the TLER being disabled in non raid class WD drives.

I found the utility in many places but no bootable disk. I made one using win98 DOS : win98_wdtler.iso. Please use it at your OWN RISK! (it worked for me...)

Steps

1. Burn the ISO and boot the CD (with CDROM support)
2. type "d:" to go on the CD
3. go in the wdltler directory by typing "cd wdtler"
4. Enable wdltler by typing "tler-on"

Et voila!
